The journey begins with twelve short stories each one unique with a cast of unforgettable whimsical characters. I am also thrilled to share a series of projects and giveaways with you. Castlebrook

Castlebrook unveils a mystical realm where the simple turn of a page releases creatures from the enchanted fairy tale book. Explaining the really ugly, smelly ogre under your bed or baby dragon in your closet toasting your clothes might be a little difficult. A mythical journey encountering enchanted creatures, though magical they may be, released a realm that must be restored.

Fairy Tales and Beyond inspired me to create colorful swag that brings out the magical element of the short stories. I am a fan of altered art and want to apply this to one of the projects. Since there are twelve short stories, I decided to design an art card for each one. Kind of like trading cards only way more artsy. This project will be an ongoing one and added to each journal blog with the last blog completing the cards for a final giveaway. Clear as mud yet? Maybe a more detailed description and a few photos will help…so for this one you might need to climb inside my head for a bit.

The journey continues with a shopping trip for supplies. Local craft shops (Hobby Lobby, Michael’s and JoAnn’s) provided a great start.

Just a few of the items for the project…

Recollections set of cards will work perfectly for each altered art card. A total of twelve, one for each short story. Even the cardboard box can be painted and used as a holder for the finished cards.

I apologize, the photo does not show the details. Each card has a pale pink cut out sleeve. The card has a pearl finish trimmed in gold foil with a solid white envelope…at least for now.

The design for the front of each card will begin with a graphic design illustration.

I have learned that multiple copies allows a margin to play and experiment with designs.

Ready…set…cut! This is a tool I use daily and absolutely swear by! Almost better than….chocolate.

I have gently placed the graphic design on top of the card to show the placement. Next, the real fun begins with the altered art part…which I will share the finished card in the next blog post.

Sometimes the reality of a dream coming true takes a while to grasp. I remember writing the manuscript seemed like yesterday and yet, today it is already available on Amazon. Rusty’s Chronicles more than a puppy dog tale…

The inspiration of a novel based upon a young adventurous puppy is indeed intended to be humorous and even heartwarming. Honestly, Rusty’s Chronicles is so much more than a book about a puppy’s life. The power to find inspiration through challenges faced in life allows us to be innovative. Ever wonder why the humor in a situation sometimes brings a lighthearted new approach?

Life is not perfect. Maybe it is through the imperfections that we find our real treasures in life. Or possibly, we learn patience is a valued virtue.

The unconditional devoted love of a pet is unwavering. Ever try looking into those wanting eyes and telling him no more puppy massages, walks, playful romps, hiding slippers under the bed, and midnight strolls outside? Believe me; I have not mastered that one yet. The devotion we receive from our pets provides a deep loyalty of a shared bond.

Rusty’s Chronicles takes us on a journey visualizing life through the eyes of an innocent, lovable pup with each encounter allowing us to laugh, cry, or just give in to the warm fuzzy feeling of his innocence.

What if, you could see life differently…

Rusty’s Chronicles by Victoria H Loren

The heartfelt tale of Rusty’s Chronicles takes us on a journey visualizing life through the eyes of a lovable pup with each encounter allowing us to laugh, to cry, or just give in to the warm fuzzy feeling of his innocence.

Why this concept? The attempt to carefully step in a puppy’s paw prints can be half hazardous, to say the least. The unbridled energy should be enough to warrant a second thought. The devotion of a pet owner might be pushed to the breaking point or strengthened beyond measure. The intent of the innocent nature approach allowed clarity. How often do we find ourselves deeply engaged in life’s challenges? What if it were simplified?

The concept of Rusty’s Chronicles originated in the year 2000. Long ago, I learned being a pet owner was pretty much a factor that would remain constant in my life. The unconditional love and devotion enriched and inspired me to share the adventures with various people in my life. Thus, the newsletter “Rusty’s Chronicles” was born. The favorable reaction to learn more about Rusty allowed his fan base to grow. The humorous account of Rusty’s adventures was refreshing and a way to reach out and thank various people for contributing to his life.

 

 

Rusty Visits the Vet

Rusty:   Mom, am I sick?

Mom:     No, Russ.

Rusty:   Am I going to have puppies?

Mom:  (laughing) No, Rusty, that is not possible.

Rusty:   Are you sick, Mom?

Mom: I’m fine, Rusty.

Rusty: Are you having puppies?

Mom: Sorry, Rusty, no puppies.

Rusty: Mom, are we going to tell the vet he is famous now?

Did we bring our book? Are you nervous, Mom?  I think I might be

real nervous. But not the same kind of  nervous as my coyote encounter.

Mom: Rusty, I’m so proud of you and I believe we have a wonderful story to tell.

Rusty: May I have a dog biscuit now?

Lifelong dreams are only dreams unless you work towards making it a reality. Even though I am a private person, I believe the inspiration and journey experienced through writing Rusty’s Chronicles is one that should be shared and if I can bring laughter or joy to one person, or inspire someone else, then I am honored and blessed as an author. I am excited about learning and growing as an author and will continue my passion of writing.
